Move expected in late autumn
We'll notify shoppers, volunteers, donors, and community partners well before we move.

The People’s Pantry has been in the same space for almost ten years and now serves ten times the number of people it did at inception. Today, the pantry records more than 4,000 shopper visits each month and has become the largest rural pantry in Berkshire County and the second-largest pantry in the county overall.

To ensure that the People’s Pantry continues to fulfill its mission – to provide healthy, local food to everyone who comes through its doors - the Board of Directors determined that the pantry needed a new and permanent home.

We are delighted to announce that the People’s Pantry has purchased 783 South Main Street in Great Barrington.

783 South Main Street is a free-standing building opposite Guido’s in Great Barrington with ideal space for shoppers, volunteers, storage, and community gatherings. The new building will provide dedicated space for increased food storage, distribution, volunteers, and  operations, along with important accessibility and infrastructure improvements.

The Pantry is so grateful for the generosity St James Place has shown us over the years. It is unclear if the pantry would have survived without them.

For now, the pantry remains at St. James Place on the corner of Main St. and Taconic Ave. while updates and repairs are made to the new building. Shopping hours remain Tuesdays 4:00 PM-6:00 PM and Thursdays 10:00 AM-12:30 PM. We hope to complete the move to our new location by late autumn. All of our shoppers, volunteers, vendors, and other partners will be notified well in advance of the move.

To our shoppers, volunteers, community partners, and donors…Welcome Home
